Australia extends AD duties on galvanized steel

Australia’s Minister of Industry and Science has determined that the anti-dumping measures continue in force after 7 August 2023, which apply to zinc coated (galvanized) steel exported to the country from China, South Korea and Taiwan, Kallanish notes.

This is the affirmative ruling of the second sunset review of the AD measures, and was announced almost a month later than the initial due date.

Products involved go under HS codes 7210.49.00.55, 7210.49.00.56, 7210.49.00.57, 7210.49.00.58, 7212.30.00.61, 7225.92.00.38 and 7226.99.00.71.

The AD measures are imposed in the form of a dumping duty applying to galvanized steel from China (0-20.6%), South Korea (2.4-13.7%) and Taiwan (2.4-28.2%). Also, it contains a countervailing duty imposed on Chinese goods with a rate of 0-22.8%.

In the first five months of this year, Australia imported only 1,898 tonnes of the goods from the above three regions, down a quarter on-year. Their combined market share rose slightly from 2.2% to 3.1%.
