Chuxiong City seeks investor for 100,000 t/y lithium battery anode project

The Chuxiong City, in China’s Yunnan Province, wants to attract investment for a battery anode material project to its high-tech zone, Kallanish learns from the local government during a recent visit.

The project has an investment budget of about CNY 1.3 billion ($181.74 million) and is expected to use around 166,666 square metres of land. The estimated payback period is about two years after construction is complete. Production capacity is planned at 100,000 tonnes/year of anode materials.

According to the investment bureau of the local government, this project will gradually help form a market-oriented large-scale lithium battery anode material R&D and production base in Chuxiong High-tech Zone. It would produce high-quality lithium battery anode material products to meet the huge demand of the current market, and promote new materials and new technologies in the high-tech zone, it adds.

The rapid development of energy-related industries will form industrial clusters and expand the value chain. At the same time, the investment would drive employment, increase profits and taxes, and bring significant economic and social benefits, the government says.

The Chuxiong High-tech Zone is located at the geographical centre of Yunnan Province. It is one of the Chinese national high-tech industrial development zones closest to countries and regions in South Asia and Southeast Asia; it is branded as an important channel connecting China and those countries. Chuxiong is also an important logistics hub connecting cities within the province offering large-volume, low-cost and high-efficiency solutions, the government claims.
