Clean-Seas, a subsidiary of Clean Vision Corporation, this week announced plans to set up a manufacturing facility in West Virginia, US, to turn plastic waste into clean fuel products including hydrogen.
It signed a memorandum of agreement with the West Virginia Department of Economic Development (WVDED) for over $12 million in state incentives, Kallanish reports.
According to the document, the full project will have a $50m capital investment over three years. In addition, the state will provide $1.75m in performance-based loans, as well as tax and employment incentives.
“This project demonstrates West Virginia’s commitment to innovation and technologies that are financially sound and support a clean economy,” West Virginia Governor Jim Justice says in a statement. Set to be built in Quincy, in eastern Kanawha County, the facility is expected to create 40 full-time jobs.
The upcoming facility will be Clean-Seas’ first project in the US. Once completed, it should process plastic for clean energy conversion at the rate of 100 tonnes/day, beginning in 2024. There are further plans to scale up the capacity by five times in the future, but the company is yet to reveal potential hydrogen production capacity.
“West Virginia will provide an ideal location as we continue to scale our Plastic Conversion Network domestically as well as globally,” says Dan Bates, ceo of Clean Vision. The project will bring new jobs, investments, and a new source of clean energy, he adds.
