Industry source confirmed that Taiwanese manufacturer Foxconn has received orders of electronic control units (ECUs) from Tesla and Foxconn is likely to produce the products in Mexico, according to National Business Daily.
Kallanish learns that Foxconn plans to expand its production of this product and the production will take place in its production facilities in Mexico.
The source told the media: "Foxconn's D department is working on this business."
The D department is mainly focusing on desktop computers, printers, ink tanks, X-box, smart vending machines and other products. Meanwhile, this department is responsible for the 2.0 digital transformation of Foxconn Group, as well as its goal in expanding layouts in the new energy vehicle industry.
Earlier this year, people close to Foxconn told Nikkei Asia that Mexico is one of the key investment areas for Foxconn this year. "Foxconn provides three local manufacturing options for North American electric vehicle clients. The options are Ohio State of the US, Wisconsin State of the US, and Mexico."
