Japanese automaker Honda has reached a strategic cooperation agreement with semiconductor manufacturer TSMC, Kallanish learns.
Honda ceo Toshihiro Mibe says: "Our company will establish a direct relationship with the semiconductor manufacturer in order to reach a long-term stable supply for chips. Honda will maintain close collaboration with first-tier suppliers and semiconductor manufacturers. The company is taking active measures, stepping forward."
Honda's coo Shinji Aoyama says: "By 2026, Honda plans to release four new electric vehicles. It is expected that, starting from fiscal 2025, the company will start to see the impact of the cooperation with TSMC."
During Honda's press conference held on 26 April, it says it is handling the chip shortage via both short- and long-term solutions to ensure timely delivery.
"In terms of short-term measures, in addition to further strengthening the relationship with suppliers, Honda has also carried out dual procurement of key components and the development of alternative components," Honda says.
