Chinese smart EV manufacturer NIO said Friday its ET5 models have arrived and deliveries for the first Norwegian customers will start this month, Kallanish reports.
The medium-sized all-electric sedan is the first NIO model below the VAT threshold Norway implemented on 1 January. Its price starts from NOK 429,000 ($40,489), which is less than the NOK 500,000 limit for VAT on electric vehicles. Norway will charge VAT on the remaining car value exceeding NOK 500,000, in addition to a weight-based fee also introduced recently.
Describing the vehicle, NIO Norway spokesman Asbjøn Mitusch said it’s a “practical, slightly smaller sedan, but it contains much of what our users expect from a NIO. Among other things, it’s equipped with the same market-leading pilot system as the NIO ET7.”
The dual-motor ET5 promises a top acceleration of 0-100 kilometres per hour of 4 seconds and a range of 1,000 km (under China light-duty vehicle test cycle).
The Chinese manufacturer, which has established its European entry via the Norwegian market, is also expanding its battery exchange station network in the region. With a new station in Stavanger, western Norway, the company now operates 13 stations in Europe.
The network also includes swapping stations in the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark and Sweden. NIO customers also have access to seven NIO power charger stations across Norway, Sweden and Netherlands, as well as over 388,888 third-party chargers in Europe.
