Integrated steelmaker US Steel is raising its flat-rolled steel prices by $50/short ton (st), joining other companies in announcing price hikes today.
The company's increase applies to its integrated steel mills and electric arc furnace (EAF) flat mill Big River Steel in Arkansas. The company did not set a price minimum.
US Steel joins Nucor and Cleveland-Cliffs in increasing flat-rolled prices today by $50/st, although those two also raised their hot rolled coil (HRC) price minimums to $900/st.
Since late-November, US steelmakers have announced five price increases totalling $260/st.
The Argus US HRC Midwest ex-works spot assessment has increased by more than $170/st over that span.
Transactions drove the Argus US HRC Midwest last week up by $18.75/st to $800/st, while the southern assessment rose by $25/st to $800/st.
