Australia maintains Chinese rebar anti-dumping duties following review

Australia's Anti-Dumping Commission has decided to continue anti-dumping measures on Chinese rebar for another five years until 13 April 2026, Kallanish reads on the Commission website.

The AD measures are a combination of fixed and variable duty methods.

Rebar up to 50mm in diameter are subject to the AD measures, but this does not include plain round bar, stainless steel bar and reinforcing mesh products. The goods come under HS codes 721310, 721420, 722790.10, 722790.90, 722830.10, 722830.90, and 722860.10.

The inquiry was initiated on 10 July 2020 with a period of 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020. The Australian industry is reported to have improved or maintained its position in respect of some economic indicators following the imposition of measures starting in 2016. The measures were nevertheless extended as a 19% dumping margin was found by the inquiry.

China exported 11,699 tonnes of products under these HS codes to Australia in 2020, down 57.3% year-on-year, according to customs data.
