Thailand extends tinplate duty exemption

Thailand's Committee of Dumping and Subsidy has decided to extend the anti-dumping duty exemption period on tin-coated steel sheets for six months until 11 May 2023.

This is the third time that Thailand has extended the exemption period for a total of 18 months, Kallanish notes. The decision was made in view of the needs of the domestic industry, consumer interests and public interest, according to a public document.

Since 13 November 2021, Thailand has imposed the five-year duties on steel sheets plated or coated with tin in both coils and non-coils from Chi9na, Taiwan, South Korea and the European Union, but a simultaneous announcement granted a six-month break from paying the duties (see Kallanish passim).

Rates of the duties based on cif prices are 2.45%-17.46% for Chinese exporters, and 4.28%-20.45% for Taiwanese exporters. Rates are 8.71%-22.67% and 5.82% for imports from South Korea and the EU respectively.

The products involved are classified under the HS codes 7210.12.90.021, 7210.12.90.022, 7210.12.90.023, 7210.12.90.024, 7210.12.90.025, 7210.12.90.026, 7210.12.90.029, 7210.12.90.031, 7210.12.90.032, 7210.12.90.033, 7210.12.90.034, 7210.12.90.035, 7210.12. 90.036, 7210.12.90.039 and 7210.12.90.090.
