According to the Indian Ministry of Finance, the export duties on steel products and iron ore were removed last Saturday. These duties were imposed in late May 2022. The reason behind this adjustment was to satisfy the public interest.
The cancellation of export duties on nine steel products, under HS codes 7201, 7208, 7209, 7210, 7213, 7214, 7219, 7222, and 7227.
Exports of iron ore lumps and fines with less than 58% Fe and iron ore pellets will be free from the previous duties compared to the 50% and 45% duties, respectively. Iron ore lumps and fines of more than 58% will be subject to a 30% duty.
