The UK’s Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) has proposed to extend the anti-dumping (AD) measure on high fatigue performance steel concrete reinforcement bars (HFP rebar) from China.
The TRA’s indicated in its initial findings of the Statement of Essential Facts that keeping the measure could result in supply issues for HFP rebar, but it now proposes to change its recommendation under consideration of import data and economic forecasts.
According to the TRA’s investigation analysis, the decrease in imports from Russia and Belarus could lead to significant problems in the supply chain and a damaging effect on the UK’s construction industry, but the authority found after its interim findings that the drop in imports from Russia and Belarus was being compensated by the growth in imports from other countries. Therefore, the TRA recommended extending the existing AD measure on Russia’s HFP rebar imports.
