Australia’s Anti-dumping Commission has exempted precision pipe and tube steel imported from China and South Korea from anti-dumping measures. The exemption applies retroactively from 29 September 2021, when definitive measures were initially imposed, Kallanish notes.
The goods come under Australian HS codes 7306.30.00.30, 7306.50.00.45 and 7306.61.00.21.
The commission initiated the exemption inquiry in response to an application lodged by Pillar Products Pty Ltd and Taskmaster Hardware Australia Pty Ltd.
The AD duties were levied on all exporters from South Korea and China. All Korean exporters paid 6.2%. From China, Dalian Steelforce Hi Tech Co., Ltd and Yantai Aoxin International Trade Co., Ltd. faced a duty rate of 2.9% and 19.7%, respectively. All other Chinese exporters faced a 42.7% countervailing duty in addition to 19.7% anti-dumping duties levied on fob prices.
The initial AD investigation on China, South Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam and a countervailing duty investigation on China and Vietnam was launched in March 2020, based on an application submitted by Orrcon Manufacturing Pty Ltd. However, investigations into Taiwan and Vietnam were terminated in August 2021.
