Brazil has extended anti-dumping duties on imports of seamless steel pipe originating from China for up to five years commencing 18 July 2022. This is according to a document from the local foreign trade secretariat of the Brazilian Ministry of Economy (Secex/MDIC) monitored by Kallanish.
Brazilian authorities note there is sufficient evidence of damage to domestic production of the said product classified under HS codes 7304.31.10, 7304.31.90, 7304.39.10, 7304.39.20 and 7304.39.90.
According to the decision, Brazil will maintain duties on Chinese-origin seamless pipe of between $1,009.29/tonne and $1,356.90/t. These were first imposed on 21 July 2016 for non-alloy seamless carbon steel tubes, circular section, with an external diameter not exceeding 374mm. Excluded from duties are tubes used in extraction and oil and gas pipelines.
The investigation was launched following a request from local producer Vallourec Soluções Tubulares do Brasil S.A.
