In the first half of 2022, there were four new rolling production lines put into operation in China, and the production capacity was around 16.1 million tons. At the same time, the output of hot-rolled coil products reached 93.68 million tons, increasing by 7.3% year on year.
Because some of China’s large-scale projects were postponed to start, and many projects will start after the plum rain season, the demand for steel was expected to grow in the second half of the year, making steel mills not cut their production.
As a result, China’s supply volume of hot-rolled plats and coils will probably stay at a high level for the rest of 2022. The production will be expected to be higher than in the first half of this year.
