On March 28, 2022, the Australian Anti-Dumping Commission announced that it has initiated the first anti-dumping (AD) sunset review investigation on steel reinforcing bar (rebar) imports from Greece, Indonesia, Spain, Thailand, and Taiwan, following an application submitted by Australian company InfraBuild (Newcastle) Pty Ltd on March 7, 2022.
The period of investigation was from January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021. The products involved are classified under HS codes 7213.10.00.42, 7214.20.00.47, 7227.90.10.69, 7227.90.90.01, 7227.90.90.02, 7227.90.90.04, 7227.90.90.42, 7228.30.10.70, 7228.30.90.40, and 7228.60.10.72.
Australia decided on March 7, 2018 to impose five-year AD duties on these products. The AD duty rate was set at 42.1% for Greece, 9.3% for Indonesia (except PT Ispat Panca Putera and PT Putra Baja Deli), 7.5% for Spain’s Nervacero SA, 9.3%-11.9% for Thailand, and 4.4% for Taiwan’s Power Steel Co., Ltd., valid until March 7, 2023.
