Shandong Yichen installs ferronickel lines

Shandong Yichen Nickel Chrome-Alloy Co., Ltd. is installing ferronickel production lines at its Linyi production base. The company expects to see the project put into production at the end of October this year, Kallanish notes.

The first phase, involving CNY 1 billion ($141 million) in investment, will see four rotary kiln electric furnace (RKEF) ferronickel production lines built, with nickel content of 9.5-11%. Yichen Nickel-Chrome Alloy plans to construct a 500,000 tonnes/year capacity stainless steel plant on the basis of these raw materials production facilities.

Yichen believes that RKEF smelting will have low energy consumption, low pollution, a high resource recovery rate and high output value. It estimates production cost will be reduced by about -40% compared with other smelting processes.
