Valin Xianggang has won a tender to supply steel plates to the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge, becoming the first supplier of the Shenzhong Bridge Project, Kallanish notes.
Valin signed a contract to supply 93,000 tonnes of steel plates for the main structure of the bridge. The project has a span of 24 kilometres, including 16.9 kilometres of bridge. It anticipates opening to traffic in 2024.
Xianggang has a steel production capability of 12 million tonnes/year. It supplies over 300 products across a range including plate, wire rod and bar and has the capacity to produce 5m t/y of high-end plate. Its products have also been used in several global projects, such as the Hongkong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, the Yamal LNG project, Abu Dhabi International Airport and the Qatar Shopping Complex.
