The new 600,000-tpy mill has reached full contractual speed and exceeded daily capacity.
The new AEMZ plant is rolling wirerod at 110 m/s, the fastest in Russia, and producing a wide range of steel grades, such as tyre cord, low-, medium- and high-carbon, micro-alloyed and reinforcement grades for construction purposes, spring steel, bearing steel, welding wire and CHQ grades.
Soon after the customer confirmed acceptance the mill reached a daily production volume of 3,000 tons, rolling 10- and 12-mm dia wirerod.
The starting material is 150x150-mm billets and the product sizes range from 5.5 to 25-mm-dia. wire rod, in coils weighing up to 2.0 ton.
Established in 2010, and with a production capacity of up to 1.2 Mtpy, Abinsk Electric Steel Works is one of the largest steel producers in southern Russian for reinforcing bars and wirerods for construction purposes.
Out of 497 Danieli rolling mills supplied worldwide, 10 complete mills have been started up in Russia since 2004.
