A very fast plant startup with quality cold rolled and coated strip right from the very beginning
The new Atakaş cold-rolling complex located in Iskenderun, Turkey, which consists of a continuous pickling line, two single-stand 6-high reversing mills, a vertical hot dip galvanizing line and a colour coating line, is ramping up production with tangible results in quality and reliability.
Just 40 days after the processing of the first coil through the continuous pickling line, Danieli and Atakaş started-up cold rolling mill #1; one day later, the same coil was processed at the hot dip galvanizing line.
In just few months, Atakaş has produced over 60,000 tons of prime-quality galvanized coils and, thanks to a remarkable ramp-up, the plant is expected to reach the maximum productivity by the end of this year. In the meantime the commissioning activities at cold rolling mill #2 and the colour coating line are proceeding smoothly.
Furthermore, project extension “Facility B”, consisting on an electrolytic cleaning line, a batch annealing line and a temper mill, is proceeding well, with civil works soon to be completed and the target of having first equipment on site within end of 2016, ahead of schedule.
