The crude steel output by world countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) rose modestly during the previous year. The yearly production data suggests that output by the 64 countries reporting to the association has edged higher by nearly 3.5% over the previous year. These countries had accounted for almost 99% of the total world crude steel production in 2018.
The world crude steel production totaled 1.849 billion tones in 2019, as compared with the output of 1.786 billion tonnes in 2018.
China led world’s crude steel production with an output totaling 996.342 million tonnes (Mt). The country accounted for more almost 54% of the global steel production.
