The leading Kuwaiti Steel producer (former Unisteel) confirmed its confidence in Danieli as a reliable and competitive supplier of cranes with a significant contract placed in January 2016, concerning reliable systems for handling billets and bundles at its mills nr.1 and nr. 2 at Ahmadi, Kuwait.
The package includes two 20-ton (10+10) EOT cranes with a rotating trolley, A7M7 according to FEM classification; as well as one 16-ton (8+8) EOT crane with a fixed trolley, A7M8 class.
The cranes are developed with customized mechanical solutions to address the specific layout restrictions of the two mills, and the existing building height, to maximize the usage of available areas for products storage.
In the design of the electrical systems, due consideration has been made in the sizing of the electrical cabins (container type), and thermal shields and air conditioning have been provided to cope with the severe working temperature conditions that can be locally experienced over mill area, where peak temperatures will rise up to 100° C.
For the process control architecture, Danieli will apply its standard, advanced PLC-based technologies, with operator friendly HMIs, for load and drives control, safety and alarm management, ordinary maintenance prediction.
A customized magnetic beam design has been adopted in order to handle both billets and bundles with high reliability, resulting in a dramatic cut in capital investment.
Being a discriminating and experienced steel producer, KWSteel selected customized solutions developed specifically for the iron and steel industry, preferring these to the standard design available with other commercial cranes.
With this significant order, Danieli Centro Cranes confirms its standing as reference supplier of technical service cranes for the iron and steel sector in the GCC region (Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf) with impressive references operating in Hadeed, Jesco and Rajhi Steel in KSA, GHC in the UAE and United Steel Co.in Kuwait.
