Sund Birsta SBHX5 strapping heads operates with outstanding performance

ArcelorMittal Ruhrort, after several bad performing operations on its coil compactor, took the decision to move into “a fast lane” and now is choosing “real performing” head units to increase plant performances since the commissioning of its mill in 2012.

For this reason Sund Birsta was recently awarded the contract for revamping the compactor with the reliable and revolutionary SBHX5 strapping heads. The strapping heads will be installed during limited mill stop in middle of this year. The Sund Birsta SBHX5 head is designed after many years of operating experience gathered from rolling mill applications throughout the world. The SBHX5 makes a strong and safe joint that will not open up even if coils are handled repeatedly in the distribution chain. Maintenance is very simple and the access for replacement of wear parts is unmatched to any strapping head on the market. This ensures that any maintenance stop will be minimized, keeping rolling mill at the maximum output.

Long lifetime wear parts and a constant joint strength of 83% of strap material, makes this strapping head perfect for the demanding conditions of rolling mills.
