Ukraine's Ministry of Economic Development and Trade has initiated an anti-dumping investigation into imports of seamless hot-deformed pipe of Chinese origin on 14 May, the ministry's Interdepartmental Commission for International Trade (MKMT) says.
The investigation is launched after a leading Ukrainian pipemaker claimed that import prices of the Chinese product were lower than its cost of production over the period 2015-2018, Kallanish notes.
The producer also claims that import volumes of Chinese material in 2018 were 365% up on those in 2015. The commission concluded there was enough evidence to suggest that sales of Chinese seamless hot-deformed pipes were made at dumped prices, giving a basis for the investigation.
The commission also extended the deadline for conclusion of an anti-dumping investigation into imports of carbon and alloyed steel products from Belarus and Moldova for three months, MKMT says.
